Representatives of the Dutch horticultural sector visit NOVAMONT's headquarters and research laboratories in Novara

On June 21st a Dutch delegation of entrepreneurs from the horticultural sector visited Novamont’s headquarters. Participants were part of a wider commercial mission parallel to the visit of the Dutch royal family, which had the objective to explore concrete areas of collaboration between companies of the two countries in order to address the common challenges of urbanization, sustainable food production and climate change.

Through the presentation of NOVAMONT’s peoples, the delegation had the opportunity to get a closer look of NOVAMONT’s bioeconomy model, based on territorial regeneration. Marco Versari, Head of Public Affairs, presented the pillars of the model: from the creation of local integrated biorefineries to the development of biobased products as solutions of environmental problems.

Paul Darby, Area Manager UK Ireland and Benelux,  provided an overview of the bioplastics sector and Novamont’s Mater-Bi, with a particular focus on applications for the agriculture sector.

Elisabetta Fanesi, Technical Assistance & Application Development, presented the latest applications developed by Novamont’s R&D department, such as the compostable coffee capsules.

Luigi Capuzzi, Research & Development Director, gave a presentation on the company's approach to the creation of innovative agro-industrial value chains starting from local areas and how this approach leads to  the development of new biobased products, such as biolubricants, bioherbicides and cosmetic ingredients.

Finally, the Dutch delegation had also the opportunity to visit the company’s laboratories and to see the several areas on which NOVAMONT's R&D is focusing on, in order to develop new proprietary technologies for the production of bioplastics and biobased products.
