Catia Bastioli among the speakers of the Pontignano Conference, one of the most important event in the relationship between Italy and the UK
The event "A Sustainable Recovery from COVID-19: Building Back Better", organized by the British Embassy in Italy as part of the Pontignano Conference, was held on 13 July .
The Conference is one of the most important annual gathering in the bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and Italy, which aims to bring together the main government decision makers and influencers to discuss about universities and academies, technology and innovation, culture and society, economics and finance, politics and security, government and media.
In view of the important global commitments that will see Italy preside over the G20 and the United Kingdom preside over the G7 and COP26, the conference had the aim of providing concrete proposals to guide the recovery towards building a more sustainable and resilient economy.
Catia Bastioli, Novamont CEO, was among the high-level panelists called upon to bring their contribution to the debate. During her speech, Bastioli showed the Italian bioplastics value chain case history, underling the role that the circular bioeconomy can have in the regeneration of the territories, through the construction of interconnected value chains that create sustainable products and new green jobs.
The conference, moderated by the British ambassador in Italy Jill Morris, was attended by Zac Goldsmith, UK Environment Minister, Sergio Costa, Italian Environment Minister, Partha Sarathi Dasgupta, Indian economist and professor at the University of Cambridge, Nigel Topping, UK High Level Climate Action Champion, Enrico Giovannini, President of ASVIS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development), Adair Turner, Baron Turner of Ecchinswell and researcher of the Institute for New Economic Thinking and Carlo Calenda, MEP.
