Catia Bastioli discusses with BBI JU and BIC on the future of the bio-based industry

The conference "Industrial R&D: Europe First?" was held online on 8th September. Science Business Network organized the event with the support of Attract, the European Institutes of Innovation and Technology for Health and Urban Mobility, the Bio Based Industry Joint Undertaking and IMI Innovative Medicine Initiatives.

Science Business Network is a unique forum that brings together leading organizations from the world of industry, research, innovation and policymaking, both at EU and national level. Members meet regularly, publicly and privately, to discuss the latest developments in R&I policy and practice, including current and future framework programs.

Catia Bastioli, Novamont CEO, together with Philippe Mengal, executive director of the BBI JU and Dirk Carrez, executive director, Bio-Based Industries Consortium (BIC), was among the speakers of the parallel session "Sustainable Green Recovery: Bio-Based Industries in the driving seat”, moderated by Simon Pickard, Director of the Science Business Network.

Catia Bastioli during the discussion recalled how the circular bioeconomy can be a fundamental tool for solving the problems of pollution and over-exploitation of resources to "make more with less", and how coherence in policies is needed to strengthen the bio-based industry in Europe.
