Novamont headquarters hosted an international delegation of prominent companies and research centers in the field of bioeconomy

On March 27, NOVAMONT hosted in its headquarters in Novara an international delegation of representatives of pilot plants and other stakeholders participating in the European project SmartPilots, funded by the Interreg Europe program.

The project aims to support the creation of shared pilot plants and increase their impact on the development of the bioeconomy and Key Enabling Technologies in industrial biotechnologies. Open access to these test sites has proven to accelerate the transfer of innovations from the laboratory to industrial practice, and to help SMEs and research centers in reducing the technological and financial risk, in the phase before the market entry.

NOVAMONT was chosen as an Italian excellence in industrial research in the bioeconomy sector. After a brief introductory presentation, the delegation had the opportunity to visit NOVAMONT’s main research center, an area of 5,000 sqm with equipment and facilities ranging from the laboratory scale to innovative pilot plants in the field of bioplastics, biotechnology, organic chemistry and agronomic research.

The delegation, welcomed by Luigi Capuzzi, Director of NOVAMONT Research, was composed of the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, the project leader, and the Department of Economics, Science, Innovation of Flanders, the Center for Process Innovation of the Tees Valley, the VTT of Helsinki, the Bioprocess Pilot Facility and the Dutch Zuid-Holland Province, Innovhub SSI,  based in Lombardy Assobiotec - Industrial Biotech Association and by the French and German case studies, respectively ARD and CBP.
